Coleman Entrepreneurship Center
The Coleman Entrepreneurship Center at DePaul University is the hub for student entrepreneurial activity. Located in the heart of downtown Chicago, the Center launched in 2003 with support from a major grant from the Coleman Foundation.
In 2014, Terri was the Executive Director of the Center and a business professor at the university. She spotted an underused student lounge, and the vision for a student entrepreneurship lab was born. She worked with the university administration to secure the site, and assisted the University Development Office in raising the funds to create the new 5,000-square-foot space.
Terri was instrumental in the Center’s design, consulting with the university’s architect on the Center’s functional layout, lighting, technology, and furnishings. The central area of the new space is a Startup Lab, a flexibly furnished large hall with dual functionality as both a classroom and co-working space. The Center also houses an 18-person training room, a 10-person meeting room, private advising rooms, and offices for staff and entrepreneurs-in-residence.
The Coleman Entrepreneurship Center opened its new facility in 2016, and it is an ideal complement to DePaul’s academic entrepreneurship program. The space is a vibrant hub where students from across the university find guidance on entrepreneurship, innovation, and creativity in all realms of business.
